I've been wearing baseball caps for over 10 years and at times used this plastic cleaner...which never seemed to stay latched.
But there is a better way.
When my hats get dirty and smelly, I just throw them in the washer, and spray with shout out or spray & wash. After the final spin, I take the hat out and but it on my head, using my hands to form it. I then lean over a little and take it off my head, retaining the shape.
