This is a very clever way to store shoes. We have three of these over doors in the closet, bedroom and laundry room. The pockets are transparent so it is easy to see the shoes. The shoes sit vertically so it doesn't need much free space. The shoes do add mass to the door so opening the door feels different, and if you yank the door open quickly the hangar bangs against the door, but it is minor.
