I'll be honest...I never even knew my coffee maker had a filter until a couple years after I had it. Once I figured it out, I bought these and replaced my filter. Honestly, I can't taste a difference. I'm sure it does something to filter the water. Hopefully it takes out some of the impurities. We have good tasting water where I live so maybe thats why I don't notice anything.
